![]() ![]() It’s been nice to have first grabs at some exclusive items but those weren’t free to us either. I became especially confused when they declared the patreon would now move on and focus on MMOG I’m obviously very stoked for a new album because I love them and they’re amazing, but I feel like I’ve been paying them a lot of money for podcasts and demos from Simple Math while waiting for a handwritten lyric sheet/t-shirt and special vinyl announcement, and I hate to say it but none of that is really worth the $240 investment. I am fine with delays, I understand pressing plant issues, but there have been several other vinyls released including the new album that has several variants, so if you’re going to charge fans $20 a month there should be some sort of priority made for the items that the patreon was created for, especially a year into it. I feel the exact same about this patreon, and it’s not so much as thinking the $20 tier included the Sinful Math vinyl, it’s about being a year into this patreon and still not even receiving the perks promised in addition to not having the Sinful Math vinyl even announced. Hit me up Andy (either one is fine, I'm not picky) if you're looking for ideas. There should be tons of opportunities for unique content once they start touring and making TV appearances again. Lately, the content that I value has been sparse and that'll need to change soon. I loves me some loud MO, but the mellower shows are befitting the environment of the pandemic. I love that I now essentially have a Hope version of Simple Math. Watching the private shows evolve from Andy with an acoustic guitar trading lines with the birds in Rob's back yard to the slickly produced versions that we see now has been very cool. Turned out I was wrong, but was more than happy with the content I found. I joined MO's Patreon in a panic thinking it was the surest route to getting presale tickets to their social-distanced show in Connecticut. And even just a little clarity from the band would be nice but they’ve been basically silent on everything.įrom the point of view of a minimalist, I couldn't care less about vinyl, trinkets and merch. Again, maybe I’m just overthinking it but it doesn’t feel worth it to me. I’m trying not to let it soil the image of MO in my head but it really feels like I was taken advantage of for being a fan. I’ve paid my dues for this Patreon and really just want the $240 shirt and lyric sheet I paid for at this point. Maybe I’m spoiled and was expecting too much from them but a podcast on nothing in particular, a demo that’s barely listenable, and an iPhone video in your backyard of a ten year old song… $20 is steep. Socks, limited vinyl (that was FREE I didn’t have to pay for it), a card game that the band designed themselves that has rules and everything, pins, hats… so many cool things and new songs and collectibles. I signed up for La Dispute’s $20 membership program (this was before Patreon) and I got my money’s worth. Thank you to you and u/Glomb175 this is exactly my thoughts on all of this.
